What Is Head Start?

EPIC Head Start is a Federal program for preschool children from low-income families, children with disabilities, and foster children. EPIC's Head Start offers medical, dental and developmental screenings. EPIC's Head Start also offers comprehensive child development services, including: nutrition, mental health, disability and family support. These services are offer in our Castlevale, Tieton, West Valley, Jefferson, Moxee, Union Gap, Parker Heights and Sunnyside Centers.

The mission of EPIC Head Start is to assist families to be the best that they can be by providing a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment where both parents and children can continue to grow.

Who are the EPIC Head Start Programs for?
EPIC Head Start offers services to low income families and families of children with special needs to children of 3-5 years of age.

EPIC Head Start program is offered 4 days a week, half days from September through May.

How can parents get involved?

  • Individual volunteer activities at individual early learning centers

Is transportation provided?
EPIC Head Start provides transportation at some locations. Contact your local center for transportation details.

Is there a fee?
EPIC Head Start is a free child development program that supports low income families.


Required Documents for Enrollment:

  • Proof of income for the past twelve months (W2’s, pay stubs, child support, TANF etc.)
  • Child’s birth certificate
  • Immunization record
  • Child’s current well child (physical) and dental exams
  • Medical insurance
